The Major Flies High
November 2nd - November 17th

From November 2nd to November 17th this year, Coldwater Canyon, east of North Ogden, will once again witness a breathtaking spectacle. For the fifth consecutive year, a massive 150-by-78-foot American flag will unfurl above the canyon, honoring the legacy of Major Brent Taylor, the former North Ogden mayor and a dedicated Utah Army National Guard serviceman.

Known affectionately as The Major, it symbolizes hope, gratitude, and patriotism. This tradition, while initiated by the Major Brent Taylor Foundation, is a collaborative effort. The Honor the Hero Foundation also plays a vital role in rigging and placing the flag, emphasizing community involvement in this grand tribute.

The stars and stripes that flutter above serve as a powerful reminder, urging citizens to not only express gratitude to veterans but also contemplate the profound meaning behind the red, white, and blue banner. It represents the sacrifices made for freedom, the founding ideals of the United States, and the responsibility each citizen bears in upholding those principles.

Now, here’s your chance to be part of this inspiring tradition! We invite volunteers to join us on the 2-mile hike from the 2750 North Trailhead in North Ogden on November 2nd to witness the flag up close. On November 17th, we will carefully lower the Major’s flag, concluding this annual event. But its impact and message will endure, inspiring countless individuals to appreciate their freedom and take action for the greater good. Don’t miss this opportunity to be a part of something truly special.

Military Tribute Field
November 1st - November 15th

The Hero Field is a heartwarming display of flags paying tribute to the brave men and women who have served in our nation’s military. We invite you to be a part of this touching tribute by sponsoring a flag in honor of your loved ones who have served in any branch of our military.

Here’s How You Can Participate:

Sponsor a Flag: It’s absolutely free! Simply provide us with the name of the military service member you want to honor, and we’ll create a custom tag unique to this year’s Hero Field. If you do not have a name of your own to submit share this information with someone who does! Names and information can be submitted HERE. You can also find the link on our website under the Veterans Week schedule.

Please note that this year, we will not be using any tags from previous years. Each tag in the Hero Field will be exclusively from this year’s submissions.

Save the Date: The MBTF Military Tribute Field will be set up at 5 pm on Friday, November 1st, and will stand tall until 4 pm on Sunday, November 17th. Located at Pleasant View City Hall

Previous Sponsors: If you have sponsored flags in the past and would like to retain the tags from those, please reach out to Amberly Johnson at 801-628-6326 to arrange for pick-up.

Join us in creating a stunning sea of flags that pays homage to our brave military heroes. Your participation makes this tribute even more special, as we come together as a community to honor those who have sacrificed so much for our country. If you have any questions feel free to reach out!
