January 2025 Message from Founder/CEO Jennie Taylor

Looking Forward in 2025

As we step into the new year, I am filled with hope and gratitude for the unwavering support we’ve received from all of you—our dedicated volunteers, partners, and donors. Together, we’ve made a difference in honoring the memory of my husband, Major Brent Taylor, and in keeping his legacy of service, sacrifice, and patriotism alive. I am excited to share with you the goals we have set for 2025, as we continue to strengthen our community and inspire the next generation of patriots.

This year, our foundation is focused on igniting a renewed sense of patriotism in local communities, particularly among our young people. We believe it’s essential to create lasting connections between the ideals my husband fought for and the next generation of leaders. We will be partnering with public schools and fellow non-profit organizations to offer programs that teach the value of service, sacrifice, and what it truly means to be an American. Our hope is to nurture a deeper appreciation for our country’s freedoms and responsibilities—something Major Taylor held dear.

In addition to our educational efforts, we are thrilled to announce that we will be chartering a new Troop with the Boy Scouts of America. This is a wonderful opportunity to instill in our youth the principles of duty, respect, and leadership—values that Major Taylor exemplified during his service in Afghanistan. Through this new troop, we will help guide young men on a journey of personal growth and civic responsibility.

We are also looking forward to our annual Veterans Week this year, which has become one of the cornerstone events of our foundation’s activities. Veterans Week includes several meaningful events that honor our military, veterans, and their families, and we invite you to be a part of this important week. This series includes a memorial ruck march, an outdoor Veterans Day devotional program, and the flight of a giant flag in nearby Coldwater Canyon. For the past six years, we’ve flown a special flag called The Major, which has become a symbol of strength and remembrance for all who have served.

This spring, we will retire The Major and commission a new flag for this year’s Veterans Week events in November. As we bid farewell to this cherished flag, we invite you to join us in the retirement ceremony, offer your suggestions for a name for the new flag, and support our fundraising effort to make this new flag a reality. More details will be coming soon, and we encourage volunteers and community members to participate in every step of this important tradition.

Of course, none of our work would be possible without the support of volunteers, partners, and donors like you. As we embark on this new year, we are actively seeking individuals and organizations who share our passion for these efforts. Whether through your time, resources, or financial support, you play a pivotal role in making these goals a reality.

I am deeply grateful for the community we’ve built together, and I look forward to all that we will accomplish in 2025. On behalf of the entire foundation, thank you for being part of our mission to honor Major Taylor’s memory and ignite the spirit of patriotism in those who will carry it forward.
