Message from New Executive Director Daniela Harding

I’m thrilled to step into the role of Executive Director of the Major Brent Taylor Foundation. Supporting our military is a cause close to my heart, and I’m excited to contribute to the impactful work of the Major Brent Taylor Foundation.

I was born in Salzburg, Austria to an American mother and Austrian father. My parents came to the U.S. when I was very young seeking better educational opportunities, and I grew up in Provo and then Taylorsville, Utah.

After college and marriage, my husband Doug and I spent time in Houston, Texas, before settling in east Layton where we’ve lived for the past 15 years with our three, now mostly grown, children. Living close to Hill Air Force Base, we cherish watching the fighter jets and hearing the “sound of freedom” daily—a reminder of the sacrifices made for our liberty.

Education has always been important to me. I graduated cum laude from the University of Utah with a degree in Psychology and a minor in German. My passion for public health led me to work as a research assistant at the University of Utah School of Medicine and later at Baylor College of Medicine in Houston, where I contributed to many research projects.

I also spent time in corporate wellness, helping employees achieve their health and fitness goals. Later, I became a licensed real estate appraiser, which was a career field that I found interesting, but ultimately decided to dedicate my career to public service.

Public service and volunteerism have been central to my life since childhood. One formative memory I have is serving breakfast to the homeless population which was, at the time, under Salt Lake City’s 400 South viaduct, teaching me the importance of connecting with others regardless of their circumstances.

Over the years, I’ve held several volunteer roles, including serving on the Central Davis Junior High Community Council, as a Layton City Planning Commissioner, and as Chair of the Davis County Republican Party.

Volunteering and mentoring are especially important to me because I believe in uplifting others and finding ways to give back to the community. Outside of work and volunteering, I enjoy reading, writing, biking, and running with friends. I also love experimenting with new recipes for my family.

Please feel free to reach out to me at: daniela@majorbrenttaylor.com. I’d love to hear from you!
