The purpose of the 9/11 Project is to bring community members together. The event draws students of all ages; political and business leaders; educators and elected officials; as well as military, medial, fire, and police professionals. Hundreds of volunteers work together in collaborative manner to make this memorable memorial come to life. Few community events have this level of depth and breadth for civic engagement.
The 9/11 Project provides invaluable educational opportunities for young and old alike. Guests walk through an immersive timeline of events leading up to and through the tragic attacks of September 11, 2001. For those who lived through those events, the Project serves as a reminder of what happened. For those not yet alive in the 2001, this event provides an insight into that tragedy, as well as an awareness of the legacy of patriotism and brotherhood that rose out of the ashes that day.
The 9/11 Project includes a career fair centered around military, medical, fire, police, civic, and educational professionals. Through the indoor booths and the outdoor parking lot exhibits, men and women from these communities are able to interact with members of the public and build a sense of trust of and appreciation for their respective professions. The Project also introduces today’s young people to the possibility of joining these professions as part of their own future career choices.

Non-profit and service organizations are given complementary booth space in which to demonstrate the services they provide. Not only does this serve to educate the public about the good work being done throughout our community; it also provides opportunities for those same members of the public to get involved in that good work being done. Think of it as a service showcase and volunteer recruiting fair, with community service as the end goal for all involved.
All branches of the United States Armed Services are invited to participate in the 9/11 Project. In addition to showcasing their professionalism and career options, members of the military interact with members of the public in a non-threatening and non-confrontational way. They are on hand to educate the public about the different but collaborative missions of each of the branches of service. Once again, it is a chance for today’s adults to gain trust and appreciation while also planting seeds of career opportunities for tomorrow’s men and women in uniform.
Members of the public traditionally LOVE a good Touch a Truck exhibit. By bringing different vehicles and pieces of machinery to the parking lot, the military medical, fire, and police.
Help build the 9/11 Memorial Exhibit and Career Fair to get it ready to open to the public! Shifts are available for individuals and groups throughout the day on Tuesday, September 10th
Join an army of volunteers to dismantle the ENTIRE PROJECT in two quick hours (or less!). Help disassemble the museum exhibit (bring a drill if you have one), take down tables and chairs, remove all audio-visual components, and clean up on our way out the door. 9 to 11 pm on Saturday, September 14th.
Come help supervise ten community volunteers for a 3 1/2-hour shift throughout the open-to-the-public hours. Shifts are available for individuals and groups throughout the day on September 11th – 14th
People can help gather goodies for Thank You Snack Packs to be given to the military, medical, fire, and police professionals. Donations can be brought to the event any time during the operating hours (September 11th – 14th, 9 am to 9 pm). The packs will be assembled during the event by groups of school students coming to the event on field trips. Items to gather for the snack packs include: granola bars, lunch-size bags of chips, candy, gum, beef jerky, individually-packed desserts, powdered drink sticks, individual packs of trail mix, energy/protein bars, other lunch box variety snacks.
Any groups wishing to gather AND assemble the items into packs themselves can contact us at info@majorbrenttaylor.com for coordination.
