About the Major Brent Taylor Foundation

Honoring Service. Empowering Leaders. Strengthening Communities.

The Major Brent Taylor Foundation was created to honor the legacy of Major Brent Taylor, a devoted husband and father, a courageous military officer, and a dedicated public servant. His life was defined by service, leadership, and sacrifice, and this foundation exists to ensure that his impact continues to inspire and uplift others.

The Life & Legacy of Major Brent Taylor

Brent Taylor lived by a simple yet powerful belief: “A life of service is a life well-lived.”

From his early years, he dedicated himself to serving his family, his community, and his country. As a Utah National Guard officer, he answered the call of duty multiple times, deploying on several overseas tours in defense of freedom. Back home, he served as the Mayor of North Ogden, leading with integrity, compassion, and a deep love for his community.

In 2018, during his fourth combat deployment, Major Taylor made the ultimate sacrifice while serving in Afghanistan. Though his life was tragically cut short, his example of selfless leadership and unwavering patriotism lives on through the work of this foundation.

Honoring Service

We believe in paying tribute to those who serve—both in the military and in our communities. Through remembrance events, scholarships, and veteran support initiatives, we ensure that the legacy of service is never forgotten.

Empowering Leaders

Leadership was at the heart of everything Major Taylor did. Our foundation invests in future leaders through mentorship programs, scholarships, and leadership training, instilling in them the values of courage, integrity, and service.

Strengthening Communities

Brent understood that strong communities are built on unity, service, and action. We continue his mission by supporting service projects, community events, and partnerships that bring people together for a greater purpose.

Programs

Programs & Initiatives

TRAIN

We believe leadership begins with service. Through our Leadership Legacy Scholarship Program, we invest in students who exemplify character, resilience, and a desire to lead their communities. Our BT5 Leadership Training Program—rooted in Major Brent Taylor’s five principles of leadership—brings workshops and mentorship to youth, schools, and organizations across Utah and beyond. These programs help shape the next generation of leaders by empowering them to lead with integrity, courage, and purpose.

HONOR

At the heart of the Foundation is a deep commitment to honoring those who serve and sacrifice. From flag missions at homecomings, funerals, and parades to the Military Tribute Field and the majestic flag display in Coldwater Canyon, our tribute events are designed to foster remembrance and patriotism. We also coordinate Gold Star Family Flights to the Global War on Terrorism Memorial in Georgia, offering healing experiences for families whose loved ones gave all. Every effort is a reflection of our gratitude and a promise to never forget.

ENGAGE

We are passionate about bringing communities together through meaningful service. Our annual 9/11 Project invites students and families to learn from the past while connecting with local heroes and public servants. During Veterans Week, we host a series of events including a devotional, parade, blood drive, and in the past, the Leadership Legacy Gala. These experiences give people of all ages the chance to get involved, give back, and be part of something that unites us across backgrounds, beliefs, and generations.
